Rachel L. Blumenfeld, MPH, BSN, RN

Adjunct Faculty

Rachel Blumenfeld works as the maternal and child health surveillance nurse at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Division of Maternal, Child and Family Health.

She recently completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing and is a registered nurse in Pennsylvania. She received her Master of Public Health degree from Emory University and a bachelor’s degree in health policy and administration from Penn State University.

With over nine years of public health experience, Blumenfeld has also worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta in various capacities, including serving on Emergency Response teams for both Ebola and Zika. She has conducted several qualitative research studies in English and Spanish, both domestically and internationally in Mexico, Chile and Paraguay.

She is also adjunct faculty at the University of North Carolina and teaches SPHG 713 – Understanding Public Health Issues.

In her free time, Blumenfeld loves to travel (37 countries and counting), attend live music shows, skydive, scuba dive, spend time with family and friends (including her dog, Vinny) and try new restaurants.
